KMCQ "AM"

This weekend, the sound quality of KMCQ has deteriorated to the point that it is unlistenable. I'm not sure if they're using 64kbps MP3's or what - but the fidelity is horrible, and I don't think its part of a stunt. They should author a book - "Bad Radio Made Easy."

I have noticed that; there is good news though, I've been listening for a portion of this morning and it sounds like they are starting to play more songs. Like for example this morning I have heard Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves by Cher, YMCA by the Village People, Mississippi Queen by Mountain and right now Tell Her No by the Zombies; all songs that I don't remember KMCQ playing before today. Unfortuntely though they do sound like an online radio station, but at least the song selection is getting better.

Sounds like they turned off the pre-emphasis. Maybe the Audio processing needs a reboot, or they are running an old Optimod 8000 with the original capacitors.
Sound is bad unlistenable.

You just haven't heard bad until you've heard KBRC's Camano FM translator at 102.1.....KBRC-AM (as awful as even that sounds) sounds much better than "KBRC-FM"......

I actually e-mailed KMCQ a few days ago about this issue; basically I wasn't expecting to get a reply beause of their status, but I was somewhat stunned yesterday morning when I opened my e-mail and got a response back from them, here's what they said about it:

First thanks for listening.
Answering your questions:
We are restructuring at the moment.(I asked about Mark Christopher not being on so i'm guessing that was their response to that question)
Sound quality, we had issues with our processing but you should hear it back to normal by the weekend.

Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback and hope you continue to listen.
