KMCQ Audio...

I've noticed that KMCQ's audio has been alot better and at normal volume....except that it's in mono, even though there's a stereo carrier. Wondering what's going on with that? It would sound perfect it was in stereo! Anyone have any updates on it?

They're probably preparing to file with the FCC to go dark

Kidding aside... why does this warrant a new thread? Couldn’t this have been attached to the other 5,000+ KMCQ threads?

I bet it's due to budget cuts because EVERYONE knows broadcasting in mono cuts the transmitter power bill in half. :D

Intentional, as studies have shown that people prefer to hear Kokomo in mono.

AQH, why does that have to come up in every KMCQ thread on this board? This has been going on for about a week now, I noticed this during the amazing ducting opening last week.

KMCQ, if you haven't noticed has a 24/7 All-Kokomo format. (Or at least that's what they say......)

So shouldn't they pair up with KKMO in Tacoma so they can get the calls?!

If Sea-Mar wants to buy them, it would help El Rey a LOT. Less Kokomo can only be an improvement.

Is KKMO commercial or a non-com? Sea-Mar is a non-profit community health clinic chain. I was actually pretty surprised when they-of all people, bought them.

Their signal has really gone south in the last 20 years. They used to put in a middlin' signal in Bellingham. Now you can hardly hear them at all up here. Must be time to replace the ground system. I could say that for most Seattle AM stations as well.

I can just imagine how bad it must be in Seattle. So they should really look into getting 104.5. It isn't like Ohana is doing anything special with it.
