KMCQ Streaming Volume Levels

There seems to be a problem with the streaming of KMCQ, 104.5. The songs play at a softer volume than the station liners and PSA's. I turn up the volume on my computer speakers to hear the songs and them the station liners come blaring out and I can't get to the volume knob fast enough. Is that a problem they can fix?

I contacted KMCQ - they are working on improving the stream. It may be down for a little while tomorrow (Saturday) so that they can install and test the new software. Thanks. Tom S

By the way, you are certainly invited to participate in the KMCQ discussion page on Facebook where we discuss music - currently there are several threads on the Wrecking Crew - the studio musicians who provided much of the background music on many of the songs produced during the 60's and 70's. Just go to the KMCQ homepage http://www.1045kmcq.com/ and click on the facebook link on the right-hand side of the page. Tonight (midnight, Friday) they are playing the entire Queen Greatest Hits CD.

That's fine and dandy, but let's get to the real issue. Did they play "Kokomo"?

I'll take your well-heeled advice and refrain from answering that question

Sure they did - along with Come Dancing, Your Wildest Dreams, Free As A Bird, and Got My Mind Set On You.

I know, the mention is because the experts here get their feathers ruffled when "Kokomo" is played.

Just be thankful it wasn't Wipe Out with the Fat Boys.

Have been listening to this while working...VERY WELL presented.
Just enough announcer intervention to keep some personality involved....awesome imaging elements from "the day"....deep library and segues done with the same attention KMCQ puts into theirs'.

In other words....they are breaking almost every programming "rule" that Cheap Channel puts in front of THEIR properties.
But my TSL so far today = 5 hours. My average KJR-F TSL is about 4 minutes/week.

AQH,

Thanks a lot for bringing that up. It really chapped my hide when I heard they played a song from the 80's. At that point I decided to never start listening to KMCQ! Now I see Kokomo wasn't the only 80's tune played. Yuk!

If you are going to slam a station you should at least listen. Lonely Summer and AQH have it wrong. I listen all the time and they never play KoKomo or the others lonely summer said. I do hear an early 80's sometimes but rare.

Again, off topic Bill where are you when we need you.

I am pretty sure they were being sarcastic and a little facetious

My question is about the stream levels.. Why don't they just supply the feed with the processor? That's what we do and it sounds GREAT out of the back of an Omnia..

You got it! Oops...that's 1989 Roy Orbison

I can't understand why anyone would listen to KMCQ on FM or Internet for more than 30 seconds.

The quality of the audio is awful. There are no high frequencies. It's all muddy midrange.

I'm listening right now....the audio could be better.....but if you have it on as let's say background while you're working on something, it's alright from that perspective for me. Nice to hear Mama Cass and "It's Getting Better," right into Manfred Mann "The Mighty Quinn." It sounds to me like an AM receiver---granted a good AM receiver....
