KMCQ - THE (TEMPORARY) HOME OF THE MARINERS?

M

While out and about Saturday I dialed up the mighty 104.5 and what do I hear but the dulcet tones of one Rick Rizzs calling a Mariners game.

I guess "Seattle's Classic Hits" is the new home for baseball when it conflicts with Seahawks broadcasts...but at least they don't play "Kokomo" for bumper music.

It would be nice if the constant "Kokomo" mentions were retired. They were marginally funny once. And that time wasn't recent.

Most of the music played on Q104.5 was marginally entertaining once. And that time wasn't recent.

The "Kokomo" mentions weren't meant as a joke in the context you may think it was meant for.

The game that was played Sunday wasn't aired on KMCQ - but it was nice to have an FM simulcast for one game...

The simulcast was in effect again for last night's Mariners-Seahawks conflict. Good for the Mariners, since the 770 signal is brutal after dark.

They were advertising being on 770 and Q104.5 last week with the first football game of the season, then back to 710 on Sunday.

It doesn't matter, Seattle is not a baseball town anyway. The Mariners are lousy, once football season starts in
August, all attention turns to the Seahawks. Seattle will support football win or lose, but baseball, you better be competitive.

Six losses in a row for the Mariners - normal. This team is doomed. Either sell the team and put it out of it's misery, or (a dream anyways) - fire everyone except for Felix, and put all those Sammamish Little Leaguers on the team. They would probably put the Mariners at 1995-levels...
