KMFC Centralia

Does anyone know what's up with the sales negotiations for Christian station KMFC "Joy 92" in Centralia, MO? An employee who recently left said a "secular" station will be purchasing it, but things are real "hush-hush". Is perhaps Cumulus or Zimmer adding to their collections of Mid-Missouri stations?

I've heard the same rumors, quite possibly from the same source. However, when I heard the station had been sold, it was back in the summer. So, I'm not really sure what to make of the rumors going around. Unless they can find a creative way to get around calling Centralia a Columbia market station, both Cumulus and Zimmer are maxed out in Columbia. My money would be on GoodRadio if anything is really happening.

The theory about Goodradio.tv purchasing it certainly makes sense. They also have the CP for Madison, MO (in Dean Goodman's wife's name). I've been hearing promos on KMFC the last few days about the "new and improved" KMFC coming soon, and something about how their listeners will "like the new changes". That would lead me to believe that whoever takes over the station will at least retain some sort of Christian format.

Hard to say what's going on over there. Kevin Hilley has left and is now doing mornings at Kat Country 94.3, replacing Uncle Jack.

Anybody ever hear anything regarding KMFC? I see that they have a Construction Permit to move from Class A to C3, and add much better Columbia coverage.

I talked to a friend who had worked there and is still friends with Jerry Clair. He said Clair has taken the station off the market.

Correct. That was announced about a month ago. Jerry Clair passed, I believe, last year, and his kids didn't really want to be in the radio business.
