KMGN Magic 98 logo

I heard about the "Kick Ass" in the former KMGN Magic 98 in Bakersfield. I would love to have that logo and a bumper sticker. Does anyone have a copy on their computer or scanner? That would just be awesome to see! What was the station format and was it on before classic rock 98.5 The Fox?

I might still have a sticker around somewhere but I haven't the slightest where to start looking. :)
It was a pretty basic layout: black background with yellow lettering (possibly white lettering with yellow outline).

Kick Ass! Magic 98

The "i" in Magic was upside down, elongated, slighted tilted and looked like a magician's wand with a white star-like flare coming off it at the top that starburst across the top of the sticker. I don't even think it mentioned Bakersfield or the call letters on it but I'm recalling this solely from memory.

The station was in existence long, long, looooong before The Fox. In fact the FM dial in Bakersfield was pretty barren and empty back then. All that I recall was around locally was Q94 (Top 40), Magic 98, KGFM (Beautiful music standards back then) and of course 108 KKXX (Rock n' Stereo). A different perspective would be KKDJ was still a rocker up in Fresno and NBC 17 in Bako still had the KPWR calls way before switching to KGET and Power 106 snatching channel 17's old call letters in Los Angeles.

There was an arcade I frequented near the Stockdale 6 over by where Fat T's Pizza once was (now Chevy's or Chubby's?) that piped in Magic 98 while I cranked quarters into the Galaga and Bosconian machines, so the station was around in 1983ish but was pretty much on it's last breath by then. It's format was pretty unconventional by Bakersfield standards, it played a lot of deep album tracks like Rush's "The Trees" and "2112" and others here seem to recall it dabbling in New Wave. I recall it being a lot harder than KKXX was for the time. The D.J.'s usually sounded drunk or stoned (or both) and gave off an "I'll do what I want" vibe.

Good times 8)

man...same thing here. I have a old magic 98 sticker somewhere along with a Q94 (red with a white Q94), kkxx, and most of the 80s KROQ stickers stashed away somewhere...

I will look around but not sure where to start.

PS...Mike Bell might be the person to still have one of the stickers.

Speaking of KQXR Q94 and Magic 98, Magic was the station that introduced me to Kraftwerk, late 70's early 80s??? Wall Of Voodoo, and those rolly polly fishheads etc. As I had a run at AGM (the first time mid-late90's) when I was producing the for the Baka Boyz we were in the tiny prod room and we found a buttload of KXQR imaging on reel to reel. I wish I would have recorded them to dat, Yeah this was the 90's...
