KMIC off the air

Have noticed that KMIC 1590 has been off the air for several days. It was off for three weeks after Hurricane Beryl, and is now gone again.

Gotta wonder about the future of this station.

Tropical Storm Beryl caused damage to electrical transmission lines. Although some service was restored, the new lines and transformer only provide single phase service. Transmitter needs three phase power. Waiting on Centerpoint...

K252FR 98.3, which has KMIC as its originating station, is still on the air.
Interesting enough the other day I saw it had RDS for the first time and it just said Sangeet. They were still radio aleluya. I’m pretty sure the RDS is off again.

It's fortunate for 1590 that Acres Home and Inwood Forest are on each side of its TX site. The chances of any redevelopment of the property is drastically reduced.

A permanent loss of the KMIC facility would be tragic. Spent many of its years faithfully serving the Black community. The fact that the signal is owned by a Mexican preacher, as opposed to someone of African-American descent who would use the station to super serve the very community in which its array resides is the biggest tragedy of all.
