KMIH signal

Hey, KMIH! Have you made some antenna adjustments in the past month? I'm getting a killer signal from you on 88.9 north of Seattle where I didn't hear you before. I think I've seen postings from the station's engineer - anything new with your signal??

That is interesting, we have not actually done anything (I have not been to the TX in three months), it is getting towards a check-up time though.

Usually the transmitter is running between about 9.3 watts and 10.5 (depending on the ambient temperature) which with cable loss and antenna gain equals right at 30 watts ERP. We try hard to keep everything as close to licensed parameters as possible even though on a low power signal this is a bit harder since gear drifts a bit power wise when temperature changes. Sometimes on the north-end it makes a big difference if the canadians are coming in well, mercer island actually has pretty good line of sight to the north end, it is just a long way out.

Thanks,
John

Main 88.9 signal is weak-very weak here. 94.5 is easier to copy.

Well, there's another signal _on_ 88.9--the religious
translator that existed before KMIH came on. At least I think it's a translator.

It's a CSN International translator, K205DF in Enumclaw, I think.

Can't they just boot those CSN turkey's off the air? K205DF comes in quite nicely without any interference from KMIH at the South end of Mercer Island. :-\

Yeah, they take up 89.1 (also w/ Radio U xlator) and 91.9 too. 91.9 is K220HD out of Fall City.
