KMLE and KNIX

Wow! KMLE #1 25-54...

Can anyone tell me why KMLE is beating KNIX so badly these days?

I suspect that it has everything to do with the departure of Tim & Willy.

Yup. Morning show and music. KNIX is a shell of it's former self.

Yep it's still amazes me nobody learns. let go of good talent you die a slow death. I can just hear the consultant telling the GM or visa versa. Hey we don't need this high paid high profile jock. We'll voicetrack or hire someone for 40k or less.

There's a never ending supply of fools in ths business.

All we are waiting for is the reincarnation of SMN, and Buck Owens.

Looking back, I am sure they regret the Tim and Willy move. How Goddard got stolen out from under them makes no sense. But, they have lost more than just talent. They have lost 'it.

KNIX just sounds dead and lifeless. From the jocks to the imaging, the station just lacks any sense of fun. That would probably not be their death if KMLE didn't sound like an adult Top 40 that just happens to play country records. In fact, I heard they have a Top 40 jingle package. Again, and its easy to say when a station is as bad off as this, KNIX just sounds bad.

And that was all very hard to say. KNIX used to be a great radio station. :-\ It is easy to speculate but Ray Massey certainly has to be looking over his shoulder. Speaking of departing PD's, when did Jay McCarthey leave KMLE?

Satellite Music Network - Wait a min. that was their AM. :-X

IMO, KMLE has a solid crew. They have a morning show that's very polished, led by Dave Pratt who, knows a thing or two about morning radio. I was a big fan of Lisa Malay, but I think Gwen Foster is great too and I enjoy her just as much. Stu in the PM is exceptional and so is Jeff West. But when you look at KNIX, let's face it, they lost a lot of key people (some of them to CBS from what I've noticed) and to me it leaves the station sounding a bit...'foreign.' As a listener, it sounds like a rotating parade of jocks, and that's hard to get attached to. But that's just my 2 cents though.
