KMOR

Well for a very short time, and the signal was very weak since KSPZ was trying to come in as well, but I heard KMOR, I am not sure if they are working on the project to get the station to be heard over here in Northern Colorado, but it was nice to hear it for once. It is still a Rock station.. It just seems like to me they are just going to put the transmitter up and run the station like they always have been.
More classic rock stations, we got to much of them already..

Hi,
I can virtually guarantee when KMOR settles in to S.E. Wyoming, that they won't be "classic rock" anymore. Keeping the formatt would be suicidal even if they aimed their target audience at Ft Collins/Greeley. In the Cheyenne area alone, they would be up against KKQZ, KIGN, KRQU, and KPAW (each already classic rock) as well as oldies FM's KRRR and KARS. The KMOR 92.9 I listened to during my vacation north in April sounded very "cookie cutter" without deep cuts or any special features that would distinguish it in any way from what is currantly available in that formatt in the area they plan to move to.
I strongly believe the rumour that surfaced on a Nebraska board and was linked to the DRN board before they got pulled. The "insider" stated that Tracy planned to make 92.9 in southeast Wyoming a satellite of their hot AC station in Gering called KOZY which would move to a new frequency adjacent to KMOR at 93.1 FM in Scottsbluff. A hot AC formatt would only face competition from mainly KIMX and possibly KQLF or remotely KJAC, and would provide a much better chance of success.

You know that is quite interesting, it really is!
A HOT AC Station, humm that could work I guess? But keep in mind if they go that route KMOR won;t be in any compation up there at all! Jack is actually in the Denver Market area, so it wont even count one bit.. WHat would count is TRi-102.5 and yes as you mentioned KIMX and yes KQLF as well since those 3 stations are not stallite but live stations. As for KMOR if they go the satallite route who would want to listen to that?
But that would be interesting if they changed formats instead of just keeping the station the way it is. SO far on their web site they oddly never even remotley mention anything about it.

Hi Radioman,
I forgot about KTRR (Tri 102.5) being a potential contender for southeast Wyoming, as they are supposed to have a CP for an upgrade as well that I think puts them on the same tower and "footprint" as KPAW. Perhaps that makes a "hot AC" flip less likely. Realisticly, however, KMOR will need to "flip" to something to make some money within their new contours. On the old DRN board, we took suggestions for formatt ideas. I thought they should try going classic country instead of classic rock, or maybe the possibility of doing standards/easy listening. There are no FM's carrying either of these formatts anywhere on the front range. Someone else suggested a Spanish station which might actually work as well since there seems to be no "clean" Spanish FM signal available from Greeley north.

Just for reference's sake, KMOR's currantly running Jones's classic rock format off the bird.

I throughly believe it. But look at the bright side, a Jones contract makes a formatt flip even easier...Thanks, Dennis.

I don't know about that. Most network radio contracts run a minimum of three years and are pretty tough to break.

Hi Kent,
Actually, I wasn't implying a "breakaway" from Jones. I was assuming that their contract with Jones would allow them out of Jones' classic rock formatt and into a Jones' "other" formatt, perhaps one that's currantly not available on FM in southeast Wyoming or northern Colorado...If this is not the case, there's no sense in Tracy moving the station at all until the contract runs out, because they would stand no chance against all the other classic rock and oldies FM's in their "new" area. Hope this clarifies my comments:)
