KMOZART

Ravel arranged Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" -- originally written for piano -- for full orchestra. Both men are long dead. Is the copyright still in effect, or was there ever one?

So the original has likely expired. But when Emerson, Lake, & Palmer did their version, it was a derivative work.

Regardless, any new recording has another copyright, for which the musicians and label receive royalty.
