KMPH/840 Back On The Air...

...Beginning this morning, and for the rest of the day, at the behest of La Familia Pappas in order to maintain the station's license. The music is being fed, reportedly, off of a computer.

And gone again today.

And I am curious, What type of music did KMPH play during this brief period?

Oldies- and a pretty decent mix at that, too. Some fairly obscure, not often heard. They were on for 3 or 4 days. Maybe not a full 24 day but a majority of the time.

And probably the last decent thing you'll hear out of that bunch.

Isn't it funny that both of the local silent radio stations (KMPH-840 & KSTN-1420) have briefly come back on the air (to save their licenses) with Oldies format?

Really? Three or four days? I counted just one day. What other days were they on?

KMPH/840 could be back on the air -- permanently, this time (or as "permanent" as permanent can be these days -- as early as Monday. It will not be conservative talk, from what I've heard.

In fact, it probably won't be in English, either...

Maybe like in Spanish Catholic Programming that I hear is going to be on KRJY-1240 Sacramento?

Maybe it could be "Radio Guadalupe" (Spanish Catholic) like KGED 1680 in Fresno.

Isn't "Radio Guadalupe" going to be the service to be broadcast on KRJY-1240? That is what I thought. Or does EWTN have a Spanish Language Service?

Pappas probably isn't worried about updating the website.

I understand through a source in Modesto media that a technical problem caused by the theft of wiring from the facility delayed the station's return to the air. A new security system (which may or may not also involve small-caliber hand weapons carried by members of the engineering staff) has reportedly been put in place...

Can somebody clarify whether Pappas still has control of KMPH 840? I jumped to the conclusion that it had been taken over by creditors at about the same time as KTRB 860.

I agree with you. I have heard that Pappas still owned KMPH but creditors has control of KTRB and his creditors sold all of his TV Stations. I am wondering, how was Pappas able to keep KMPH but lose everything else? Just doesn't make sense.

I thought the Bankruptcy only effected 12 of Pappas' TV stations, including Fresno and Reno, and that he still has the rest of the TV stations and all radio stations.

Don't know about the rest of the TV Stations but Pappas only owned 2 radio stations and KTRB-860 is definately owned by creditor, Comerica Bank. Don't know about KMPH though.
