KMVN - new TV commercial

MOViN has a new TV commercial. Its just like the Burns ones (with the butts shaking to the music) except it has Dees shaking HIS at the end

WWWAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY better than the stupid stick figure commercials.

The jingles they finally added are better than what they had before. With KBIG going down the drain QUICKLY, its glad to see KMVN progressing..

They only have ONE jingle.

i posted on Thursday about the tv commercial so you're a little late. There is more than one. But the schedule is so light so far. It may even just be trade-out. That would figure for cheap Emmis.

Movin isn't progressing. The music still sucks and so does the staff (except a lost Rick Dees) and imaging (although Dees has finally been added to most of it...how long have I been say that should happen?). There is still no real marketing campaign and no billboards.

One tv commerical that hardly airs isn't going to help save this turkey. Movin and/or Rick Dees will be gone before the fall book, my prediction.

Watched a number of local stations, plus Time-Warner cable, over the weekend and did not see one Movin spot. Other than the two I saw on KCAL on Thursday and the one mentined by the OP, I'd gather this is just a trade not a buy.

Speaking of commercials, I LOVE the TV ads for KOST 103...you know, those same ones they have been running for 25 years? Dick Clark has never sounded more alive! It's a good thing KOST 103 runs those commercials, too, because how else would I know what station to tune to when I want to hear Gloria Estefan's "Anything For You" for the 1,000,000th time? :-*

Re: Movin's shakin' butts TV commercial:
Didn't the old B100.3 utilize the EXACT SAME IDEA in their on-air ads, back during the station's brief existence?

Not sure, but I do know KOST 103 has been running that same stale TV commercial of theirs since the dawn of time.

Its been awhile since I've seen the Dick Clark KOST commercial. They probably have retired it since Dick's stroke of a few years ago.

I've seen it, but not nearly as much as it used to run.

Isn't Dick Clark the best? I wish he could live healthy and happy forever...truly one of THE greats.

They retrired the Dick Clark spots long ago. Get your Delorean up to speed man...

Oh, you mean they replaced Dick Clark's voice, but left the same crappy Gloria Estefan tune in? How original! Maybe THAT is one of the things Stella thought up since becoming PD...because nobody else seems to be able to name anything specific she has done.

I'm beginning to think KOST 103 program director Stella Schwartz is like Paris and Anna Nicole: famous for being famous.

Here's a thought...maybe if Clear Channel axed more of its higher-ups (how many VPs of programming does one company need?!?), let the PDs actually be PDs, and use the extra money on content instead of white collar salary, their L.A. cluster of radio stations wouldn't sound soooooooooooo bad.

Man who pee'd in your corn flakes? So KOST didn't hire you, get over it. You already ticked off one of their jocks, what's next?

Stop Whining is right on...you must know Stella...and her husband...another empty suit who's on the sales staff at...you guessed it, KBIG. How long can Chachi last with numbers lower than even Star.

But here's the deal, KOST is such a strong brand with such a great signal that Stella is the perfect hood ornament and she'll do nothing to kill it. And from what I know, the VP's of programming don't mess too much with LA...their time is better spent helping the 100's of smaller market stations owned by CC.

And PS...movin is a disaster! It will end a number of careers not the least of which is Dees'.

The Movin spot aired at least once today. Seen during 'The People's Court' just like last Thursday on KCAL 9.

Rick Dees career will survive Movin. Don't underestimate him. He just needs some quality veteran radio people that believe in him and know how he won at KIIS to help him out. Something he doesn't have surrounding him now.

KBIG may be messy and not have a qualified pd in place but it's still better than Movin. I do like the segues that are part of the new Clear Channel mandates. Makes the station more listenable. I don't like the 'adlets' running between songs in place of imaging though. That kills the whole idea of this mandate.

Oddly, StopWhining sounds like he or she is whining. Yes I've met Stella Schwartz. She seems like a nice enough person. But I'm no shill for her. What I object to is the pantywaist name calling like "hood ornament" and "empty suit". It's weak to attack people that way. Besides, how would you know how good of a salesman her husband is? KBIG from what I understand is not his first radio job, so it's not like he got the job simply by being her husband. Although I'm sure it got him an interview.

My thought is that the VP's leave KOST alone is because it's doing okay, and always has for a signal with such a low ERP. If it was doing that bad they would step in, but I doubt Michael Martin would really know what to do. His track record isn't in programming that type of AC station.

I agree that Movin' is a disaster. They needed their own dedicated PD from the start as well as a good airstaff. But really, it was a mistake to even do that format. Why try to take a slice of an already small pie. KBIG sounds better than Movin' and has the lead by default. Emmis did the same thing that CBS did by going Jack everywhere. They went for the format de jour and it was the wrong one to go to. There was no hole to fill in LA for Movin'. And while I'm there, my take on CBS is that they've done what they always did. Let New York dictate. They made huge errors by blowing up decent stations in NYC and Chicago. They just didn't do their homework, and in New York they ticked off everyone from the Mayor on down to the garbage collectors.

To get back to why I replied, I think you can make your case with intelligence instead of name calling. I know and dislike a few people on-air in LA and make no bones about saying so, but I reserve the names I have for them for private...

Now back to the thread title.

Has anyone seen the spots?
Again today it ran during 'The People's Court' on KCAL 9. Haven't seen it at another time or on any other tv station or on Time Warner cable.

I saw two of them on FOX (evening) earlier this week, but haven't seen any since. One had a tag line for Rick Dees in the Morning, the other did not. Just out of curiosity, why would they have ANY that did not mention Rick Dees? Is there any advantage to leaving that out?
