KMVP Sold

Bonneville Sells KMVP-A
BONNEVILLE INTERNATIONAL CORP. is selling Sports KMVP-A/PHOENIX to AIM BROADCASTING LLC for an undisclosed price. CALIFORNIA-based AIM is run by President/CEO JOHN DOUGLAS and owns one other station, Talk KLAV/LAS VEGAS.

In a way I am a little sad..... I was there when Marc McCoy (the GM) annouced we had acquired "a great new signal" for the coming MLB broadcasts: KVVA AM 860.
The station was being sold in a bankruptcy auction, and we were supposed to get it cheap. But someone else had the same idea and Pulitzer paid wayyyyy to much for it (I think it was over a million) Then , adding in the transmitter site upgrades and studio build-out ($750K) and the cost started getting close to what 550AM sold for about 6 months later.

So it was the beginning of March and we flipped it on......... The lineup that day:

6-10am : Brad Cesmat, with Diane Arthur on news, Mitch "Meat" Otto producing and doing sports updates, and yours truely on the board.
10a-12p: The Wiseguys -Paul Calvisi and Vic Lombardi
12-3p: One on One Sports -I think it was the Fabulous Sports Blob
3-6p : Garth and Wolf -Garth Jax and Ron Wofley.

But then the D-Backs found out about the Glendale null in the MVP night pattern.....and thus began the long slow spiral down to today.

Been over a year since I walked out of the KMVP studios for the last time. I kind of miss it, but I am glad I didnt have to watch the last days close up.
These was such promise, and such energy - and then it was dragged out behind the transmitter shack and shotgunned into pulp.
