Stewage here to first reply to the alien slug on steroids - I'm not picking, if the other you mentioned made mistakes they would also incur my questioning on this board. Even when I try to point out positives of Magic, like the 95 cards for soldiers, I am corrected for not catching the mistake that it was. I not mentioned anything about 100.5 since they fixed their technical issues, don't recall having to call attention to anything 93.3 has or is doing and other than J. Houston leaving 103.9 was a blow to the WHOLE company they haven't been called to task for anything either.
Back to this thread. Yes the on air breaks were technically very poor. The content of the breaks was unorganized and turned quickly into the normal Kelly whinefest. I was also curious as to who the sponsor was, seemed to be a Mitchell dealership but for a while there on Thursday thought it may have been taken over by Walmart. Things just weren't real clear to me as a listener which is the second week in a row that a KMX promotion has been fuzzy to me. the previous week they were going to some kids house in (Elba or New Brockton ?) for some reason for somebody to accomplish something but I've yet to figure that one out. I guess this week was an improvement over that one because at least I could discern that solicitations of bicycles were being made to help the Marines Toys For Tots. How'd it end, reach the goal of 106 bikes or 200 bikes or 400 bikes (heard all three given as goals on air)?
So there are two polar opposites on the same floor of the Woods building, one station that talks and talks and talks but I must admit that I do get what they are trying to do with a promotion after they spell it out as if they are lecturing a first grade class. Then the other station on that floor is doing things that takes a lot of guess work to figure out what they are doing. Comical.
Projection....the book has ended, no results will be back until early February so expect Magic to make format and personnel changes within the next three weeks. Certainly not logical but seems to follow how they do things. Hey, why not blow it up now and then find out later that it WAS good.
So here is a total guess as to some of the moves they may make. KMX - Lex and Terry on in the mornings with Trent and Kelly out, VT middays and nights and have Brian as the only live body on air. Stephano is sounding like he has talent but he is also in woeful need of a good professional coach to go over air checks daily to tighten his game but will be a victim of the budget in this case. Baker will get tired of working basically for free at night and just go back to producing comedy bits which he could sell on the Net if there were someone their to coach him as to how. The music on KMX won't change much, just a different 3 songs in heavy rotation. TVY - here's a big guess Pollard and KC becomes Pollard and Sommers. The grind and stress of the mornings with Amie is just too much for KC and he switches with David. All else remainds about the same on TVY. LDA - becomes a hybrid of what they were before going all Christmas and JRL in an effort to try and take out WOOF but it won't be live, it won't be "local" and it won't impact WOOF. JRL - I am guessing (and personally hoping) that they go ROCK and I mean REAL ROCK. Dave'll do mornings and hopefully someone other than Bill will do afternoons. Now they may pull a fast one and take this ROCK format to 100.5 and bring the hybrid from 100.5 to 103.9 which would probably be a good move because 103.9 should have better building penetration in Dothan, correct me if I'm wrong please Preem. BBK - don't expect much to change there. The only thing that may happen is that JJ gets an on air side kick in the person of the singing sales rep.
Now to keep the space slug from being paranoid I'll speculate on other stations in the market. Wilson Broadcasting - will move into brand new studios that may be the finest in town in the most visible location and start promoting shows in the that same building. Better watch this one boys and girls, this small stick group could be poised to make more money than anyone if you include NTR. Radio People - If DJR isn't a clear winner over TVY there may be some personnel changes but I don't think any music changes will take place. ESP will just keep rockin' along until a REAL threat surfaces and I don't see Magic allowing Dave to do that (no that is not a misprint). 105.3's future hinges on the 95 and 96 battle. If 96 wins outright then I think 1053 will remain, if not it won't. Good as Roy's morning show is that age group of listeners wants somebody local talking to them all the time (that's why Liz was move back to evenings at 95). Woof - changes, well revenue should continue to climb or at least hold steady (if the economy craps out), no significant changes, get real.
Stewage out, I have to go to bugger bottom and get Amie's buck before she does. You should all thank me if I do, that's one 45 minute story you won't have to hear on air.
