Alaska KMXT Kodiak's GM Op-Ed on CPB cuts

Thanks to high oil prices, North Slope oil now generates large amounts of tax revenue for Alaska. The projected CPB shortfall easily can be covered by state-generated funds. This is would make Alaskan public radio truly Alaskan.
The governor disagrees with your assessment:

The state has experienced lower oil prices, and oil price outlooks continue to fluctuate. In an updated revenue outlook, the Alaska Department of Revenue projects general fund revenue may be $222 million lower than was projected in the Spring Revenue Forecast.

Sorry folks but I disagree. Thanks to high oil prices, North Slope oil now generates large amounts of tax revenue for Alaska. The projected CPB shortfall easily can be covered by state-generated funds. This is would make Alaskan public radio truly Alaskan.

The various governors have veto'd state funding for 10 plus years and one of our own reps voted yes on the recision vote a week ago

When the state DID give us funding, it was about $1 to 2 mil spread across more than 2 dozen strations. Not enough to sustain a single station for a year when split amongst us all.
