KMXZ replaces Goddard with Casey

Title sums it up...KMXZ "Mix 94.9" has replaced Steve Goddard's rather lackluster '70s oldies show 9-12 Saturday nights with 'Classic AT40--the 70s'. Tonight is a flashback to 35 years ago, week ending January 4, 1975. Elton's take on "Lucy In the Sky" replaces Helen Reddy's "Angie Baby" at #1, but as always with retro AT40 shows the real nuggets are farther down the chart, away from the played-to-death cuts like "Cat's In the Cradle"--stuff like "Get Dancin'" by Disco Tex and the Sex-o-Lettes (when's the last time you've heard THAT on the radio?)!

Steve Goddard's show continues every Sunday afternoon at 1 pm on KGVY 1080. On AM radio just the way you first heard all your favourite '70s tunes!! :)

Isn't the Stevemeister's other show ("Goddard's Gold") the one airing on KGVY?

"The '70s With Steve Goddard" was the one replaced by the new adventures
of old Casey on Cloud 95. (Oooh, I know, we're not supposed to talk about
clouds anymore. ;D)

Yes, I must correct my answer that "Goddard's Gold" is on KGVY. Cloud 95 would never run a 60's oriented gold show...my bad...no Disco Tex for me for awhile....

KMXZ's last two Classic AT40 airings have both suffered from a technical glitch at the same point in the broadcast. "The 70's" w/Steve Goddard ain't quite dead yet on Mix FM!
Let me explain...At the start of the second segment of hour three, instead of hearing nos. 9-8-7-6, we've been treated to the same Goddard show segment both times: Three songs--"Old Fashioned Love Song"--3 Dog Night, "Walk Away From Love"--David Ruffin (which, coincidentally, was one of the 'missing' AT40 songs from last night's 1/31/76 AT40 !), and Player's "Baby Come Back". Then, At40 returns with the 5-4-3 segment following the next break.
For you chart geeks out there, the missing songs from this week in '76 were:
9--the aforementioned "Walk Away From Love" (9 the previous week)
8--I kid you not, "Times of Your Life"--Paul Anka (also stayed at the same position as the week before)
7--"Sing a Song"--Earth, Wind, & Fire (up from 10)
6--that '70s icon, C. W. McCall's "Convoy" (this former #1 did a rare reverse and went back up one position)

So good that there are Hot 100 archive sites around to look stuff like this up!

Anyway, someone at 'Cloud 95' needs to get on the ball and fix the glitch!

It could have been worse, if the Audio Vault dredged up
and old morning show file...with Brad.

I think Bobby reads this board, so maybe he'll get it fixed.

BTW, today is the last Sunday of the month, so isn't it a
"Cloud '80s Sunday"?

OK, it's once again Saturday night, so naturally we're tuned in to Classic Casey on KMXZ, and we're almost up to the 'screw-up' moment of the last two weeks. Let's see if they've fixed it...#10 for the week ending Feb 2 '74 has just ended ("Spiders and Snakes"), and we're in the break...let's see what they come back with...will it be #9 ("The Joker") or will it once again be "The '70s with Steve Goddard"?
The suspense builds...the break is ending...and they're actually back with AT40 and Steve Miller at number 9!
I guess somebody (Bobby Rich?) actually DOES read these posts! ;D

I wouldn't mind if Journal Tucson weatherbabe Erin reads this board. ;)

And I wouldn't mind if KGUN-TV got their ERP boost CP in place--or go
back to RF 35--so I could receive 9 again up here in the 'Tuke.

Since I've previously ragged on Mix FM for screwing up the "Classic Casey" show, I'll give them props now: Three weeks in a row with no screwups!
Last night was week ending 3/8/75 (can't possibly be 35 years ago!) and it was great. When's the last time one heard "I'm a Woman" (Maria Muldaur), "Up In a Puff of Smoke" (Polly Brown), or "Sad Sweet Dreamer" (Sweet Sensation) on ANY format.
Yes, there's more to March '75 than "Black Water" and "Lady Marmalade".... 8)
