Nov 6+ ratings are out, and for the first time in years, KNAI gets a great big asterisk. Here's their trend (Sep-Oct-Nov) 2.4, 1.2, 0. Of course yanking their programming from 88~Three and placing it on translator 101~Nine has a lot to do with it. 8~Sixty's contribution is the translator, but nothing more. Competitors KLNZ, KHOT and KVVA are up almost two share since September. Bet CCF is hoping the FCC approves their purchase of KAHM 102~One muy pronto. But even with a rimshot and a translator, will KNAI regain its dominance over competitors it had when it shared 88~Three?

You are looking at the "dead" listing for KNAI-FM.
The new listing is for KNAI-AM, the signal which sustains and justifies the translator. That signal, in 12+, got a 2.4 in November and 3.0 in 25-54.
Nielsen's quirky policy about signal continuity allowed KNAI-AM to be considered a brand new station.
Quirky indeed, as 8~Sixty was put into simulcast mode with KNAI 88~Three as soon as the purchase closed. When the 101~Nine translator was paired with 8~Sixty, then 88~Three being using a loop of cross promos to direct listeners to the new frequency. And of course, not a mention of 8~Sixty. Once the KAHM purchase closes, then 88~Three we guess becomes KPHF 24/7 and KNAI will be heard on 8~Sixty, 101~Nine and 102~One. Phew...a lot of info to stuff into an average sized fez!
