KNCO considers dropping Rush

Our local news/talk station, KNCO-AM, is considering dropping Rush. This morning they're not airing Rush. Instead they are doing a call-in show regarding the issue. I learned of this from an article in this morning's Union Newspaper. KNCO's manager, Tom Fitzsimmons, said they are receiving many calls for and against Rush.

...and that's in a very conservative area (except for Nevada City).

You are correct Michael. The area is mostly conservative, especially in the more rural areas (except San Juan Ridge, with a large hippie population). I'm sure after the Union article hit, KNCO was hammered by supporters.

And yes, it does also have a leftist culture, who probably complained. I would guess that the left listens to KVMR more than KNCO-AM.

Speaking of KVMR, if you look at their website, their "mission statement" reflects that of the left: social justice, etc.

BTW, for a small market station, KNCO-AM does a good job with local news. If I wasn't so dang busy, yesterday, I would have enjoyed their call-in show.

I imagine the EIB not really caring that much. I wonder if people will just flip to BK?

I listen to KFBK. Only when mobile do I tune to KNCO for top-o-the-hour ABC News.

If KNCO does drop Rush, they'll probably replace him with some other syndicated show. As a small market, their staff's pay is small. I doubt they'd add a live/local host.

Unfortunately, most small markets don't realize they could probably double their station's revenue with a good, local personality.

Update Rush Is trying to woo his San Francisco and Sacramento Sleep Train Store to Sponsor Rush Again

Sleep Train requested to get back on board. Rush told them no. I applaud him for doing so.

As my third grade teacher said, "A friend is a friend 'till the very end". :)

Rush's spokesman: "Unfortunately, your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh's character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the future.
"Rush appreciates your long friendship and your past support, and we wish you good luck in the future."

A friend sticks by you, thick and thin.

Stupid move. If they lose him they won't get him back.
