NBC Tri cities promised coverage of wa governor debate but fails. No coverage.
It was on SWX, seatownmedia. KIMA/KEPR also ran it, and I watched the Inslee/Culp debate on that station.
Really? Do tell. What difference would it have made?Ask the folks at KHQ master control. Knock knock, anyone home in Spokane? Oh, apparently not. And this has been going on for a couple years now. Makes you miss actual MCOs running local stations and not centralcasting to other markets.
KIMA KEPR are run from the Hub in Seattle. It was on SWX, seatownmedia. KIMA/KEPR also ran it, and I watched the Inslee/Culp debate on that station.
You didn't answer my question: Why would it be better to have local MC Operators? Do you think technical problems to old equipment would occur less if local humans were running the local equipment that fails? Do you think a local operator would be less likely to load the wrong show, rather than the traffic department specifying the wrong show in the log? (Hint) Traffic departments make mistakes to the shows aired too. You're correct Kelly, and they have been at KOMO Plaza since 2007 or so. I think KBOI Boise is ran out of Seattle as well.
Isn't a lot of master control ran automatically nowadays? Yes, a locally-based master control would be nice, but what gives? KNDO dumped their studios a long time ago. An hours-long outage would be thwarted in minutes with adequate support from everyone involved in running those stations. Engineers, MCOs, program directors. I've seen KNDO in the past running programs with no sound (including news!), running the wrong episode of Wheel of Fortune (the previous Friday's or Monday's episode ran in the Friday timeslot), and pixelating to oblivion for hours or days on end. And Seatown can relate as KNDU has done similar things in the past (who wants to watch a major football game where the audio and video cut out every 2 seconds?) You don't see these problems happen as often on major cable networks. People would go berserk if ESPN had a half-hour of technical problems.
