KNEW: John & Ken Gone, Gibson In

The S.F. Peninsula Press Club reported on Saturday that KNEW (910 AM) is dropping John & Ken in exchange for John Gibson:

Clear Channel's KNEW 910 is changing afternoon drive hosts again as the conservative talk station struggles for ratings.

Last September, the station dropped Michael Savage, replacing him with "The John and Ken Show," which is No. 1 on the company's KFI Los Angeles. ... Most of the stories they discuss concern the Los Angeles area, which didn't help them here.

Now KNEW is airing promos saying John Gibson will get the 3-6 p.m. slot starting Tuesday.

Gibson is a 3rd string conservative host. The syndicator has pitched him to KNEW for years. He will take the ratings even lower. Savage was the cume magnet for the station, and even though not performing as well the last couple years, they took a real hit when they got rid of him. Can't speak for the money demo, but the 6+ are half what they were, so it's unlikely that the 25-54 numbers are up. John & Ken was a terrible idea, and Gibson will do worse.

They would do well to lure Lee Rodgers out of "retirement," and plug him in there. Oh, wait...that would cost money.
 
Yawn. At least John and Ken talked about California issues and were entertaining. Gibson does neither. He won't last long, although there is no other obvious choice. What about Rob Black in the afternoon?

They probably did have to pay John and Ken. The blog says what works in SoCal doesn't work in San Francisco, but John Gibson is just plain nationalized. Oh, but he's barter, so no upfront costs!

what the hell????? stupid radio station. yes j & k are la based but they are funny, inspiring, and talk about the important stuff. the majority of usa is against illegal immigration. was knew trying to be politically correct or something? j & k were also against sex predators, criminals getting light or zero sentences, they are for saving tax payers income, they are perfect for everyone. they support everything the majority of people agree with. plus they are funny and have variety. they are intelligent. foolish knew or is it "clear channel" clear my ass

John Gibson isn't politically correct at all. I remember him telling white people to make more babies so we don't get outnumbered, making fun of Heath Ledger after he died, and generally being an assclown.
 
Your description of him is apt...but if he was an entertaining a**clown, it might be different. He has NO TALENT as a talk show host. In the past, Fox pestered KNEW repeatedly to put him on and the answer was always no.
