KNEW TALK SHOW HOST

They're looking for a local talk show host. Any thoughts?

Yeah, I noticed that they posted an ad on Craigslist. Most stations never advertise job openings because they always have a list of people waiting to work there. There are many way to intrepret this.

(1) The cupboard is bare because nobody wants to work there (probably not likely given that people will do talkshows for free on KEST).

(2) They sincerely want to see who is out there and feel that outreach will produce a more diverse pool of applicants.

(3) They already have someone in mind and are posting ads here and there to put on their EEO filings. (This is usually what "job fairs" are about. Companies have no interest in hiring, but they want to look as if they've done outreach to diverse communities.)

So, I guess the conclusion depends on one's level of cynicism.

It would be rediculous to work for free in market #4. ::)

The station management should look for someone no one knows. Take a chance on a new talent who is ready to step up to a large market. From what I see in ratings, the only way to go is up.

I was always amazed when I received requests to fill out EEO forms from stations who obviously didn't hire me. Sure! I'll get right on that! ;D

A diff. radio board mentions changes for 910 and 960 (Green moves to an HD channel). Supposedly on 1/3/12 Talk 910 will have Armstrong & Getty, Clark Howard, Tom Sullivan and a local host TBA 3-6 pm and Fox Newsradio 960 will have Beck, Ramsey, Randi Rhodes, John Gibson and Colmes. Green 960 goes to 103.7 KKSF-HD2. 910:KKSF. 960:KNEW

Since CC is regionalizing their programming in NorCal, this sounds right. In Sacramento, they run all you listed for Talk 910. Aired on KFBK or KSTE, with the exception of Dr. Savage.

According to Dr. Savage, he had good ratings in the past on KNEW. What were his past ratings? I realize there is bad blood regarding Savage for Bay Area listeners.
