KNGT 99.5 in Lake Charles

This is one of the most powerful stations I have ever heard. I can hear this station from Winnie, TX to Henderson, LA with a clear signal. That's a total of 170 miles!! Has anyone else been able to hear it further east of Henderson?

The Saints Radio Network should use this station as an affiliate to penetrate SE Texas.

Hell, the Astros Radio Network could use it to penetrate into most of South Louisiana.

I'm not a big fan of the format, but really powerful station. It is much more powerful than radio-locator gives it credit for.

It prob would sound better around Lafayette if not for KTDY running hybrid digital. KTDY tears it up on 99.5 pretty bad as it also does to KRRV on 100.3.

92.3 WDVW is the best signal in Louisiana bar none. It can be picked up from near Jennings,LA to just past Diamond Head, MS (Over 200 Miles). 104.1 KYRK has the same specs but as i understand it the Kathrein antenna on the vacherie stick is optimized to 92.3 mhz and 104.1 in Alabama gives it hell once you cross into MS.

I agree that 92.3 has the best power in Louisiana. Do you think they will ever go back to the WCKW call letters?

I don't remember getting any static in Lafayette when pulling in KNGT. Of course, the last time I tried was in January when I was on my way to New Orleans for the NFC Championship.

I think only if a real operator gets it and wants to wax memories by making it a heritage rocker

Does anyone else have any experiences with KNGT?

I have travelled east and west of Lake Charles, but how far does this signal carry north?

So no one lives or drives through SW Louisiana? No road trips to Houston? Who else has pulled in 99-5 KNGT from a far distance?

Tropoducting aside, this one of the most powerful FM signals in Louisiana.

I travel between Houston and Lafayette often, but im not a very big country music fan so i never really have noticed their signal distance, that said there some other monster signals in southwest louisiana. KAJN, KRVS, and KSMB all reach the Texas/Louisiana line pretty easilly. Prob one of the best signals Between here and Houston is KHPT 106.9. I begin receiving it near jennings and have picked it up till about 70 miles before San Antonio before. Thats nearly 400 Miles of I-10.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of country either, but I am a big fan of their signal and seeing how far it will go.

I can pull in KAJN static-free from the state line to Tiger Stadium, so yeah that is a good signal, I just wish they didn't waste it on a non-profit.

KSMB is another good one as well. I can pull it in from Vidor to Hammond with very little static.

You did better with KHPT than I did. I can pull it in from Lake Charles to Columbus, TX, but that is still really good.

I really feel like the car radio you have makes a difference. I felt like I could pull in stations better with my Nissan as opposed to the Chevy I drive today.

OK, to all listeners in Central Louisiana, since there are several KQID listeners, how far north does KNGT travel? De Ridder? Leesville? Zwolle? Anacoco? Logansport? Many?

Normally I can't catch it except in the mornings or when a little tropo is going in Pineville when I'm there. actually don't hear much out of LC/Beaumont except 94.1 KQXY and KIOC 106.1

Most of the stations are Baton Rouge, and Monroe, with 95.1 out of Natchez thrown in, in Pineville

104.1 and 92.3 make it to Cheneyville, But that's when Monroe starts cutting in

That's disappointing. I figured KNGT's signal travelled well to the north because it travels so well east and west.

I've got KNGT in Avoyelles parish a couple of times. The signal was a little bit choppy but that's pretty good for over 100 miles away. Now if only KYKZ Would make it that far.

KNGT is on the 1350ft 29TV tower in Edgerly north of Vinton...that tower was originally built for 96.1 but they moved back to the Sulphur tower and sold it to KVHP TV...very good coverage on I10...
