KNGY Signal coverage in the city (San Francisco)

For those who don't live in the Bay area. "The City" is refer to San Francisco, not "FRISCO!" If you say "FRISCO" then you must be an outsider. Back to the topic, KNGY doesn't cover the entire city to well. The areas such as West Portal, Glen Park, Parkside, Merced, Ocean View, and Bernal Heights can't pick up the station at all or weak signal. Since I lived in the INgleside neighborhood. KNGY is just barely audio from my apartment. I whish KNGY move their to Sutro for a better CITY coverage.

Neither this station nor the San Rafael station can move to Sutro. They aren't allowed to have better coverage, as it would interfere with other stations. They always have been, and will remain, low power, small footprint stations (unless the FCC drastically changes its rules.)

Actually KNGY has a CP to move to Mt. Suturo, but I don't know why they move back to Russian Hill.

I am planning on going to the "city" in the next few mos...how good does 92.7 come in around the Fisherman's warth area? What is FM and AM reception like in that area? Can I pick San Jose up in that area? What about DX signals?

Yes, you can pick up 92.7 cleary in the Fisherman Warf area. However, the other bay area stations that transmitts from San Bruno Mt are static. Also, I don't think you can picked up San Jose station in Fisherman Warf, only in downtown (Fiancial District, and south along the bay). As for Dxing, it depends on your location, you maybe able to hear Sacramento, Santa Rosa, even Modesto station in the city.

I believe the reason they moved back to the old xmtr site: because the newer signal from the Sutro tower had less building penetration.

It's a class A signal and will probably NEVER be heard well in SJ on the radio; listen online - it works fine up in the north bay...and other parts of the world. <P ID="signature">______________
