KNMZ Makes A Stealthy Change

Katlyn and David Grice’s Exciter Media has closed on its acquisition of “Coyote Country 92.7” KRSY-FM La Luz, Sports “ESPN 103.7” KNMZ Alamogordo, and Talk “Alamo 1230” KRSY/101.9 K270CS Alamogordo NM and made format changes at two of them.

KNMZ has dropped its Sports format and flipped to Classic Rock “Stealth Rock 103.7“. The station will feature Program Director Kelly Lynch in mornings, Ernesto Garcia in middays, and Monica Castillo in afternoons. The move brings back the heritage “Stealth” brand that was heard on KNMZ from its launch in 1996 until 2010.

So now they have KTMN 97.9 which has an impressive coverage area of Alamogordo and Ruidoso plus KIDX in Ruidoso and KSNM in T or C also rimshot that area and now KNMZ a class A that only covers Alamogordo. They must really love classic rock in that part of the state.

No, it's bad decision making. There are top-10 markets that have only one Classic Rock station. This is not room for another one in Alamogordo, NM. They should have gone AC or Hot AC and go after females. There are no ratings here, so it's the old-fashioned way of knocking on doors and selling door-to-door. If it's office friendly, these small, local businesses will be more willing to buy.
