KNOU-FM :: HOT 104.5 ::

Now wassup wid HOT 104.5? I took a trip to N.O for Mardi Gras and they sounded pretty hype. I love the amount of "N.O BOUNCE MUSIC" they kept playing! Now in my hotel room, KISS 104.1 came in clear and HOT 104.5 was no where to be found. On an average day, how does HOT 104.5 sound compared to Q93?

They have signal problems due to the fact that:

(1) Their tower/transmitter is down in Port Sulphur. They share a tower with WTIX-FM (94.3), but strangely, TIX's signal is a lot better. Maybe they push more power... who know's.

(2) One thing I've noticed at HOT 104.5 that was similar to KSTE (former 104.1 Kiss FM), was that they tried to push too much bass and treble on the signal. When you do that, it too, will affect the signal in so many ways. Similar to over modulation.

Actually, I usually find Hot's signal comes in better than 'TIX-FM's. I guess it's because Hot puts more work into their antenna.

Well, you can ask whoever buys the station. According to a former employee, On Top Communications filed for bankruptcy last week. <P ID="signature">______________

I heard the same thing. I believe they are filing Chapter 11 which allows them to reorganize instead of losing everything. On-Top has some FCC issues to deal with too, due to a recent inspection of Hot 97.7 in Jackson, MS.

We'll see what happens in the next month or so, I guess.

That's interesting with On Top going Chapt. 11. Steve has had an indirect impact on my radio career. In some instances, bankrupcty can be a good bizness strategy. Does anyone know what FCC issues they are up against? I know the FCC are not playing games since Janet Jackass. Though that was TV, radio seems to continue taking 99% of the flack.
