Knowing the Rules

Below in chronological order are clips from recent posts here from four different individuals.

1. But some may prefer to "put a toe in the water,"
before diving in to a full commitment, and possible FCC
actions. Why not ask first?

2. Testing the waters can lead to narrow and shallow rivers.

3. "It's better to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission."

4. I was running a EDM 100mw into a comet 5/8 wave. Mr John E. Rahtes District Director for the philadelphia Field Office showed up here while i was out ... Well i emailed him and spoke on the phone he said i needed a license and said to expect a warning and possibly fines and forfeiture of my ham license.

Keeping things in context

These statements are presented here out of context. They do not all relate to the same topic. I believe I understand the point you are trying to convey. The problem is that it looks like someone got busted for following bad technical advice on this board. I don't think that was the case, especially coming from the technically talented people who made the first three comments. The first comments listed here were in refrence to the legality/liability of playing indecent satellite radio content via personal FM modulators that are FCC certified to be Part 15 compliant.

____________

Thanks for that observation.

The overlying concept of seeking or avoiding FCC comments is the relevant topic of my post -- no matter if the subject concerns programming or technical issues.

The situation with using a 100 mW tx for Part 15 FM was an example of what can happen if accurate information is not available, and that was my point.
