Does anyone remember the classic radio station commercials that aired on Knoxville TV in the 1970s, the 1980s, and the 1990s?
I remember a few and they are:
1. WIVK-AM 850/FM 107.7 (Country): This commercial feature four frogs putting the letters "WIVK" together while a frog is flying a helicopter and a big frog wearing the Vols football jersey catching a football. After they put the letters "WIVK" together, the frog in the end sings "85 AM and FM 108" because WIVK, at the time, was on AM 850 (now WKVL) and FM 107.7. Since then, WIVK is still on 107.7 FM and they are still playing a country format. AM 850 is now WKVL.
2. WRJZ-AM 620 (Country): This commercial featured a person switching the radio dial to AM 620 which was the home of the country format WRJZ featured at the time. The coins start coming out and then the announcer at the end says "We're gonna make you rich". Now I wonder if they were going to give away big money or something like that. WRJZ has since dropped the format and they are broadcasting a religious talk format today.
These commercials are on a DVD I have which includes a WBIR airing of "Around The World in '82" from 5/29/1982.
I do know of another one and when I see it, I will post the description of the WMYU commercial from the early 1980s.
Oh and I did some screencaps so I will post the URLs next time.
