KNPN to replace WDAF on Suddenlink in St. Joseph MO

Exclusivity. Fox stations pay for affiliation. I assume in this case the new station is enforcing it's exclusivity. It's good for Fox which gains another paying affiliate but it probably isn't for St Joseph to lose WDAF. I never quite understood why this small town was its own DMA. Even using Nielsen definition KQTV would have to have more viewership than all the KC stations combined which I find hard to believe. Because St Joseph was its own DMA, WDAF didn't solidly claim it.

This is NPG's show. Even though NPG sold the cable system to Suddenlink, the Suddenlink cable news station (News 3 Now) operates from the St. Joseph News Press building. KNPN, owned by NPG, will do the same. There is synergy in that relationship we can't stop.

KQTV (Nexstar) and KMBC (Hearst) are different. ABC doesn't mind having its star affiliate on another market's cable system, even to the point of drawing viewers from that market's ABC affiliate.
