Why has this board not caught on to what is happening down in Eugene? Here's what I predict, KUFO to 97.9 in Portland, Alpha Broadcasting ends up with that one, KNRQ at 103.7. What is going to happen with KWLZ when that finally gets moved into Portland?
 
I never thought that Alpha acquiring KWLZ was a serious possibility because its Class C3 status should prevent it from being a mainstream station. It's more likely to fill a smaller niche, like KRYP, another C3. Of course, it's conceivable that they aren't through yet, will offer KZEL money to downgrade to a C1, move the Seaside station once again and put in a directional C2, protecting KXXO but I don't really expect that to happen anymore. I thought it might be in the cards three years ago.
 
Based on what domains are registered to Alpha I predict KUFO coming back. What I don't understand is why Alpha took KUFO off when they did. Why didn't they wait till they had 97.9, simulcast 101.1 there for a few days, flip 101.1 to a simulcast of 750 for a couple days, then flip 750 to a simulcast of 95.5 for a few days until that station launched a new format? Why did they take KUFO away for two years only to possibly bring it back on a frequency they do not yet have?
 
It wasn't really getting the ratings and it's a horrible format! There just isn't that much good current or even recent Rock product. Stations are forced to rely heavily on library titles and then, you get into competition with Classic Rock.
 
Speaking of the KWLZ move to 96.3, it better not turn on HD, or KXXO will lose listeners all over SW Washington...

If KWLZ gets IBOC, it will destroy KXXO's reception probably up to Toledo and Napavine. I can't get several stns here on FM in Bellevue due to IBOC. I can hear them (right now) from faintly in a CHKG null in Stanwood, S to Gresham and the eastern Portland hills, and W to the Pacific Ocean and Ocean Shores/Westport.

I am not sure what ill happen I expecgt KNRQ to simulcast on 103.7 for some time before 97.9 shuts down there Eugene stick. When this will happen I don't know. The 103.7 CP expires like January 13, and the KNRQ CP expire in July. If I remember right though, this is also dependent on KRRF's move. Last I looked at that CP, it didn't expire until 2014. Not sure if they will move at the same time as KNRQ, that would make sense, but they seem to be waiting till the last minute on these things. Maybe they are waiting for all these pieces to fall into place. I predict sometime around January 13, Cumulus will sign on the CP in Ventura and will be operating the CP in Eugene as well. Then maybe Alpha will wind up with 97.9 and bring KUFO back. Only information I have is that KXXO and KWLZ both have permits that were issued in July of this year, so those changes are at most 3 years out.
 
Both KNRQ and KXPC construction permits expire in January, about two weeks apart. In its application to swap stations with EMF, Cumulus stated that KNRQ would finish its construction by December. There should be no other stations holding up the move but from a programming standpoint, waiting for KXPC to complete construction would sure help. I don't think they need a long period of simulcasting, if at all. Heavy promotion of the upcoming change and a recorded loop on 97.9, after the fact, should suffice.
 
KNRQ's construction permit expires on January 16th. You're probably confusing it with the anniversary date of the latest modification but it's three years from the original CP grant. KXPC's CP expires January 29th and they recently applied for commercial status.
 
Well all parties involved should hurry up! Cumulus has 6 months from Monday to get that on the air, because of the move of KSHL. There CP expires on May 24.
 
It looks like that application was granted on February 19. I would hope that they get it together by May 24, being as that is when KSHL's CP expires. However, KXPC is still operating under their old parramitors with an expired permit, though the license change application being already filed may make that OK.
 
KNRQ has to move before KSHL can conduct program tests and that isn't going to happen in time for the deadline. The master antenna at Stonehenge is being replaced this summer and will offer increased capacity. That will take care of 97.9 and 96.3, as well as some other concerns, HD for one.
 
KXPC reapplied earlier and is awaiting word from the FCC. It's basically the same application as before and should go straight through. In the case of KSHL, since it's completely out of their control, there might be some extention possible. Otherwise, they'll just have to reapply. All I know is that the master antenna is being replaced this summer. It could be during the basic construction or anytime afterward. 96.3 can't conduct program tests until the Olympia station is ready to do so and it's hard to say how long that will take.
 
The saga continues! The first item in Lance Venta's FCC update for today is that they have applied to move back to the KGW-TV tower and need it approved by August 1st which corresponds with the license renewal date of the Santa Barbara station that I assume EMF is operating via LMA now. My question now is even if the FCC were to approve the application tomorrow which is highly unlikely, I would expect it sometime next week, how do they expect to build the thing by August 1st? If I remember right, the reason they applied to relocate is because they could not build the original CP in time, so they moved to Stonehenge where they could build relatively quickly. After that, I assumed that they would sign on when the master antenna was replaced. Why do they keep delaying this?
