KNST's automation is pathetic. All too frequently there are long lapses of dead air and times when local spots/PSAs are run right over the top of satellite feed. This frequently occurs on weekends and overnights. For example, this morning there was another five minutes of dead air between 5:55-6:00am. This sloppiness on KNST has been going on for long time, at least since 2004 when I moved here. You might expect this from a struggling operation such as the Jolt, but from Clear Channel? Why doesn't management fix it?
 
Maybe because they are so short staffed that they don't have anyone to fix the automation problem correctly. I've worked for a few CC stations across the country and it was always the same issue... one or maybe two folks to do everything. There was just no time to sit down and work with something that was not directly client or revenue related.
