Here's a little more piece of a messy puzzle. Wait a minute! A station with antenna site access issues is now for sale at more than twice the original purchase price.
From RadioTVDeals.com:
" Seattle Full Time AM With Full Market Coverage"
"Market Rank Mkt 1-50
Asking Price $ 525,000
Seller Financing? Consider Seller Financing
Will Seller LMA? Yes
KNTS-AM is non-directional day and night providing great coverage of the Seattle-Tacoma market. 10,000 watts days and 1,000 watts nights on a clean 1680 frequency. Good equipment co-located with 2 other Seattle AMs on a well-maintained tower site. Long-term tower lease. Seller has another station in the market and KNTS is no longer needed. Motivated seller."
The station was acquired by Baaz Broadcasting Corp. for just $225,000 in 7/2023. (There was a follow-on sale attempt to Amar Broadcasting with foreign-ownership stock issues - I do not know if that was resolved and consumated.)
The earlier combined sale by Inspiration Media to Relevant Radio (1590) and Baez Media (1680) was to clear out some underperforming signals. An expanded band waiver was needed, citing Baez as a minority ownership group. Quoting the waiver " Inspiration believed it would better serve the public interest to locate a minority purchaser to acquire the station at a buyer-favorable price. Baaz, a company 100% controlled by individuals of South Asian descent, emerged as
such a purchaser, and Inspiration now seeks a waiver of 47 C.F.R. §73.1150(c) to facilitate the sales of KLFE and KNTS to Relevant and Baaz, respectively."
