KNUU also being sold

Reported today by Radio and Records, KNUU-AM/Paradise (Las Vegas) being sold to BusinessTalkRadio.net, headed by President/CEO Michael Metter. It owns two other stations. This represents its entry into the market.

PRICE: $3.9 million

This is the Business Talk Radio Network, which also operates the Lifestyle Talk Radio Network (formerly Talk America).

I wonder if they will keep the local news blocks, or just go all business?

KDWN will trim down on paytoiletry, and BTR will bring in more and more obvious paytoiletry. Not that anyone could get that signal anyway.

How many of the Vegas AMs have changed hands in the last 24 months? Seems like quite a few of the relatively small AM band.

Most AM signals especially those east of 1100 are trashy signals that just can't cover their markets. I think HD Radio will wipe out the very bad signals and you'll be left with fair and great signals.

I don't foresee licenses being turned in anytime soon, but I think you'll see more ethnic operations and other formats that wouldn't make any sense now.As to KNEWS going all-BTRN (in all likelihood), it very well could be the first very-old-skewing-AM market where Paul Harvey will be out in the cold. KXNT with CBS, KDOX with Fox... where's he to go? 104.3?
