This is a really strange story, picked up from the FCC's files and their Daily Digest. Remember the application that Roy Henderson filed a few years back that would have relocated KNUZ Bellville to Katy? That has officially been a dead issue for some time, but now Henderson wants to sell the 250-watt daytimer (which currently has special temporary authority to operate with reduced power from a substitute site). So maybe you could say he's selling what's left of it to someone with no other broadcast interests for $500,000. There are conditions that go along with it, as described here: https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/w...xt=25&appn=101329124&formid=314&fac_num=48653
Okay, the deal (as I understand it) is that KNUZ would be moved to Hempstead, KWTL 105.3 Hempstead would be re-licensed to some other community (not disclosed) and a "replacement" station (apparently one owned by Henderson) would be moved to Bellville so as not to deprive that community of its local service. Of course, as discussed here at length in the past, when was the last time Bellville was really served by a local radio station? On the other hand, maybe an AM daytimer with a truly local focus could make it in Hempstead. But is it worth half a million bucks to find out?
