KNUZ AM 1090

Hello there, i had a few questions about KNUZ-Belville, last night i was listening to KEZB-Hempstead and i noticed that when they were doing their top of the hour Station ID's they had left out KNUZ Belville, so my first question would be does anyone know what happened with this station? Secondly i noticed on Radio-locator.com that there licence had expired on Aug.1,2005 (i dont really know how accurate or up to date radio-locator is) and Lastly does anyone know if Roy E Henderson ever got approved to move the COL to Katy,TX any extra info. is welcome. Thanks in advance.

KNUZ 1090 Bellville is off the air again to the best of my knowledge. I just tried to pickup KNUZ and no signal at all. Usually I get noisy signal from 1090 when they are on the air.

Roy E Henderson had six Petition to Deny Renewal of License and one Informal Objection to renew the license of KNUZ filed against the station. Henderson responded on 5/24/05 to the petitions.

I can not find anything on the FCC website about the petitions filed or Henderson's reply and finally gave up after an hour of searching.

When you pull up KNUZ in the FCC database it shows 0.0kW as the power for the Bellville location and the proposed move to Katy. I don't recall ever seeing this before for a station.

I don't know if it means the FCC did not renew Henderson's license for KNUZ or it is still working its way through the FCC maize.

KNUZ being off the air is nothing new, the station has spent more time silent over the last several years than on the air. This is typical of all Henderson owned stations.

Without seeing the Petition to Deny that have been filed it is difficult to say what the reason(s) are for the Petitions. KNUZ has not served Bellville in any way that I am aware since Henderson took ownership.

The only other Henderson owned station I checked did have the license renewed , which was KLTR 107.1 in the Brazos Valley area.

I don't know if the FCC has denied renewal of KNUZ and the fact KNUZ is off the air really doesn't mean anything with the track record this station has over the Henderson years.

The application for KNUZ to move to Katy is ever so slowly making it's way through the FCC process, as well as KRCM 1380 to Shenandoah and KHCB 1400 to League City. It could be some time before we see any action on these applicaions for approval of denial.

If Henderson loses the license for KNUZ, I am not sure where that would leave the station and it's applicaion for Katy.

Hopefully someone local will get the license for KNUZ and it is moved to Katy where it actually becomes a locally orientated station for the far west side. The 250 watt daytime signal would not make the station a very good candidate as a Houston rimshot, even in Katy. If the Katy move is approved the antenna can not move any closer than Brookshire to maintain spacing requirements with KNTH 1070 and KTEK 1110.

Unfortunately I could not come up with any more information than the above.
