ABC 15 will introduce a new show on August 30th. The show will be called NOW@9. The morning hosts plus Susan Casper will chat and discuss the current affair issues, the issues that YOU are talking about today.

Here is a link for the preview.

This will be interesting to see. LOL

This shift in news to having the viewers perform the news or involve the viewers is quite a change in the way the news is being delivered.

At first I thought this was a 9pm newscast on 15.2.

Concept sounds a bit overdone at TV in general, though I must admit I like how slick 15's creative department is.

But will the viewers come to the barren desert that is ABC 15?

Apparently, Nicole wasn't chosen to be on this broadcast. They chose to have Susan Casper (who is definitely more experienced) instead. In the promos, it seems clear that Susan is the "lead" person on the newscast. I'm assuming that Susan will continue her anchor duties at 4pm as well.

I will wait till the show hits the air to make final judgement but I think this show could be good. Its not going to be all shopping/vacations etc type of lifestyle show but a news show with some more room to talk about what is going on. It will be nice to see how they use the social networking sites on the show but if done right this could be very good tv. I will set my dvr ;-)

i think this show sounds awful. but thats just because i want the news...not opinions of the sheeple.

If the follow-on talk is that of "experts" and others who have inside knowledge of the subjects then it could be worth watching. If it is going to be a street interview with ordinary people then not just no but hell no.

Well to your point they give you just the news all morning and this is a hybrid of the news show. I would like to hear a little bit about whats on their minds and the minds of other people in phoenix. There is alot to talk about these days and after non stop news in the morning, then the national flava of GMA, will be nice to hear what the peeps in the valley are talking about.

An interesting segment on Now @ 9 (how come trendy shows use the "@" sign?) be to bring in "experts" on the news and get common people's reaction to their "expertise".

Re: KNXV Introduces NOW @ 9

First off sorry about screwing up the Station Call letters. My own personal grammar mistake that I should have checked and re-checked.

So all week long on KNXV 15.2 they are running a preview/test of the show. I caught it this morning because I happened to be home and stumbled upon it.

I think I will have to watch a few more episodes but they all got turns talking about various topics. The few I came across were the Pill for men, they showed the editorial meeting that happens after the morning newscast and what news anchors were assigned, didn't catch the whole show.

It's a unique idea to take an idea from a table talk show like the View and bring it live and local to the Valley.

Will have to see how this show does.

Does this mean more locally produced shows for the future of local newscast?

Ok so I have checked out the first three shows and I must say I like this. Yes they have to workout a few little things but I enjoy the personalities coming out on the show. Its nice to see them banter back and forth on topics we all are discussing at work, school or whatever. I also like how they walk around the studio as well. Kinda reminds me of the Ch3 8pm show they had a couple years ago. Anyways, good TV. I been watching it when I get home from work and then checking out the latest news at 6 or 630.

That's good to hear! I guess I'll have to record it (if I can figure out how to use my recorder). :D

I'll have to check their website to see if they put the shows on there.

Friday (3 Sept) I watched NOW@9. I liked it. The hour flew by. The format is fast and loose. I thought the anchors chemistry worked.

I commented via Twitter (name Brian4dotcom) on that horrible pause committed by Gov. Jan Brewer. I saw my Tweet on the bottom scroll. Later I wrote that it was my first time watching and I liked the program. At the end, Susan Casper actually read my name on air and thanked me for watching. Kirk Yuhnke also sent me a message.

I'll DVR it and definitely watch it live when I'm at home.

Yeah I agree, the hour does fly by fast and I love how they just bounce from one topic to the next. I kinda feel its like when I am getting together with my friends. We dont stay on one topic too long but we all have opinions and are not afraid to share them! I also like the candid moments of the reporters and other anchors around the newsroom. The one day last week the camera guy snuck up behind Daphne Munro as she was talking to someone else LOL. I would have to say this show is some new blood that was needed in local tv.

UH OH just saw acb15 morning crew say Mac Watson of KTAR will be joining them at the table this morning for the program. Lets see how he fumbles his words on live TV. The DVR is ready for this one LOL

Or Mac could just have the completely wrong facts on a story. I like that also. He's a hot mess on the radio, I don't think TV will help at all.

I have really liked seeing Katie Raml on now this week. I believe Susan Casper is on vacation and Katie is pretty quick witted along with the rest of the crew. I am really liking this show. It moves fast, they are very opinated and its not boring at all. Wish more stations would do things like this to keep their news anchors fresh and interesting.

I am watching right now (pun intended) and I like this show. I'll have another chance to watch on Monday. I hope Susan is back. I'm a huge Susan fan! ;D

According to Susan's twitter page she had hernia surgery and is recovering.

I too like Susan. I didn't get to see Katie but I saw Steve and Mac, and no offense to those guys but could they get anyone less interested or appearing to be less interested.

I think the chemistry of Amber, Susan, Kirk & Rebecca works the best they all give their opinion and appear interested and invested in the show.
