KNX 1070 Nighttime Reception in Ventura County

When vacationing in Ojai during the summer, I notice that at night, KNX 1070 is at times clear, and at times unlistenable. In other words, the signal cuts in and out. I thought that KNX was a clear-channel (not to be confused with the media giant) station, and that it could be received well outside its regular service area at night. What's up with that?

It was, when the designations were 1 A and 1B, a 1 B clear. Canada had Moncton, NB on the channel, and the US has numerous other stations. But what kills KNX is the station in Obregón, Sonora, which seems unable to power down at night and rolls over Knx, sometimes as close as Redlands to the East

There is an issue with KNX at night at a distance of about 100 miles. Too far for ground wave and too closee for sky wave. As indiicated Ventura and Redlands are particularly bad. KNX comes in beautifully at night in SF and SLC where sky ave takes over.

In Prescott, AZ, where I spend a lot of time, KNX is trashed by two of the Mexican signals much of the time.

As to groundwave, daytime KNX carries in a car to Cabazon on the 10; at night by Rialto and redlands, its whacked by the interference. Some of that is skywave cancellation, but most is just the other stations.

In the past I've had difficulty hearing KNX in Palm Springs at night because of the interference.
