KNX IBOC

I am still awaiting a reply from their engineering department, but it seems KNX has turned off the IBOC. Anyone know why?

I understand that 1090 from San Diego/Mexico was not too happy with the interference from both KNX and KDIS.

Yea I've noticed KNX turned their IBOC off or seems to have. I hope KDIS follows their example and takes it a step farther - turns the C-Quam back on.

I'd also like to see KMIK (Phoenix's Radio Disney) turn THEIR C-Quam back on, if they still have the equipment, at least at night if not 24/7.

International treaties are involved

If US IBOC causes interference to a notified Mexican station on ONE SQUARE INCH of Mexican soil, then the US/Mexican radio treaty has been violated.
It's likely that KDIS being as directional as it is, doesn't do this. But IBOC on KNX (or KFI at full power) most certainly would violate the treaty. So would IBOC on most San Diego stations.

This will have to be revisited the next time the treaty is updated.

Re: International treaties are involved

In El Cajon, I can routinely hear KDIS's hash on 1090 in the late afternoon before sunset.

I heard that, for whatever reason, KDIS does more damage to 1090 than does KNX.

Interesting, as KDIS hash doesn't seem as bad locally than was KNX.

This is going to save radio?

AM IBOC is DOA.
FM IBOC in in neonatal intensive care - prognosis grim.
