You are truly mis informed HYS Inc is a 501c3 and it does have a determination letter from the IRS, and has filed taxes accordingly> I don't know who Verne is as the corporation and its board members do not include a verne. When you make a statement get you facts clear, do some research!!
Verne, aka Chris Edwards. Hanford Youth Services. How does this 501c3 help Hanford youth? Determination letter? I don't care if HYS pays it's taxes or not, LPFM'S were intended to be non-profit. How do these very commercial sounding stations contribute to the community?
If this is truly a philanthropic effort, KOAD and or KFUN should be willing to play pre-recorded shows from every member of the community (at the very least from the kids, being Hanford Youth Services and all) as long as those shows stick to the format. I would wager that it will be quite a while until we hear a ten year old or even a teen spinning the hits just to get on-air experience on KFUN or KOAD.

Man just gotta love that Hanford Youth Services. Located in Clovis and all, with their fearless leader Denise White, no relation to Verne I am so sure.
Really, as a former youth in Hanford myself I must ask; what are these stations doing to help the community? The community being the youth, in Hanford. The way I remember it, the youth in Hanford have bigger problems than finding oldies and classic rock stations to listen to.
Ok I get it. Create viable commercial radio stations, make money, and then give the money to the youth in Hanford.
Fine, but you still have the sprirt of the LPFM rules all wrong.
Let me know when you start helping youths in Hanford.
