KOAI & TEMPIE LINDSEY PARTS WAYS

D

From ALL ACCESS TODAY (3-8-06)

CBS RADIO Smooth Jazz KOAI/DALLAS and afternooner TEMPIE LINDSEY are parting ways after the station informed the 17-year station veteran that they would not be renewing her contract. LINDSAY, who counts stints at Rockers like KZEW (THE ZOO) and KTXQ (Q102)/DALLAS as other gigs before her epic stay at KOAI, is on the hunt for her next gig.

Wondering why after 17 years-- a station wouldn't come across with the contract to a proven person in the afternoon drive position and a solid voice in the DFW area for well over 25 years-- (yes I said that)... Tempie along with Jon Dillion and a few others, have a great career here and I just can't imagine why CBS Radio would not give her what she wanted-- more so.. as another thread was being talked about David Lee Roth and his demise at taking over for Howard Stern... lets face the facts people, DLR (better known as DOA= Dead On Arrival) can't be all that and a bag of chips to make KOAI not want to keep Tempie...

these are just the thoughts of a person who admires Tempie and her work!

Hope she finds a new home soon-- maybe the EDGE MORNINGS?

Just a thought!<P ID="signature">______________

This is sad news. Tempie is a proven veteran of Dallas radio.
Did you also notice in todays morning news, help wanted ads, 2 ads for CBS Radio air talent. Also, there was an ad for KRLD model types to "help" out on promotions? Gavin what are you doing????
Could Tempie's contract not being renewed be a result of the lost profits since Howard Stern's departure?
The dollars need to be made up some where and where do corporations always make up their losses-SALARIES & BENEFITS.
Case in point Larry Dixon reduced to weekend work.

How Tempie Lindsey cannot be employed by CBS Radio and Pugs and Kelly still have a job simply astounds me.

Shame on CBS Radio.

Good Luck Tempie - Dallas Loves You and will miss you!!!! Until you find another gig with a station that wants to serve the people of Dallas.

Tempie is a wonderful lady and a joy to work with, and I sure hate to see her be CBS's next victim. I would guess she, like Chuck and Ken and the others, was making too much money. Anyone at CBS/Infinity, as I've opined before, that makes over $30K, is under the gun. They want the leanest possible operation, and to fill it with hourly part-timers. The stockholders love it, the listeners hate it, and the talent pays the price. I sincerely hope there's a backlash against the station. You can bet that Lynn Briggs is next, and maybe Tim Garrison. At least Tim's sick and could make a good case for court if they fired him (not that sick is a good thing, but at CBS, it may just mean Job Security.)

I'd rather see the Infinity morons resort to overnight voicetracking to save money instead of killing off their last real talents there.

And I bet we'd all be shocked and embarrassed to know how little Rick Vanderslice, Terry King and Larry Dixon are making now. They don't have the same-station, continuous longevity and the old contracts to back up their salary demands. I'd lay bets on none of them making over $15 an hour now, with no benefits and no contract...and each is probably glad to get that, and to have a job. Infinity knows how to play hardball in the post-consolidation era.

Now let's discuss how much KURT makes and how much the stockholders could save by dumping HIM. Let's not exempt management from this witch hunt.

I remember Tempe from her stint in San Antonio years ago. I think letting her go stinks.
Estupido! Pinche Cabron Chepete Puto! If people want a juke-box they'll get an i-pod or satellite. Programmers just don't understand that listeners can be loyal to people they know and are used to. 17 years of goodwill flushed down the crapper. Good luck, Ms. Lindsey. I hope things work out. And to any other radio managers who might read this, she's not only a great talent, she's a good employee and easy to work with.

The janitors are shown more regard. To call the company brass "morons" is to treat them much too kindly.

I am joining the chorus on this one. What a bunch of pendejos! Tempie was and remains DALLAS RADIO! She was practically an institution among announcers here. How CBS can do this is sheer stupidity at its best. Cheap S.0.*'s Keeping Pugs and Kelly, Kurt, Gavin and firing Tempie is a clear definition that CBS has a very low IQ in the common sense department. Man I hope their stock goes on a solid dive and go lower than any share has gone before including Enron's. Folks this is another indiction that the medium we love is comitting Hari Kari market by market. What is the qualification to be the head of programming at CBS? Answer: A bad lobotomy,an iq of ten or lower and absolutely no skills in broadcasting.

Tempie is a class act, a real pro and a genuinely nice person. She earned far better than to be thrown out this way (as did Larry Dixon). Unloading such assets (yes, assets) is pennywise and pound foolish. Worse, it is just plain stupid.

And a sorry thing, too, that the staff there found out via AllAccess. Usually someone sends out a courtesy email to let the employees know, but apparently Charley is taking lessons from Little Hitler and keeping everything only to himself and "management."

Besides Jody, are there any full-time jocks left at Infinity/CBS now?
