KOCD 103.7

Well, I can't speak for OKC, but I'm in Tulsa visiting my mother right now. I couldn't believe what I saw when I rode with her to get lunch at Cafe Ole in Brookside this afternoon. She had CD-103.7 playing on her car radio, and she was obviously listening to it before I got in the car as it was there as soon as the car started. The last time I was here, which was 6 months ago, she wouldn't listen to that station at all because "my seek won't stop on it." I guess I performed a miracle by setting a button for it!

My seek stopped on it in Tulsa (a combination of signal & lots of interference) yesterday... weird signal...

I repo'd a Lexus, it was on one of the presets. They lived on the east side of the metro, so they could pick it up. I live on the west side and can't get them.

The seek on my car stops on it in Tulsa, but it doesn't on my mother's. I haven't noticed any interference per se, but I have noticed a few drops here and there. I noticed one major drop at Yale and the Crosstown Expressway and another just before Harvard on 31st when turning into the Ranch Acres shopping center (had to get some Miner Mishap Choc beer from Pete's!).

I'm not surprised you can't get them on OKC's west side. You probably start having problems with KVSP at that point. I noticed I was able to get 103.9 from Bartlesville in Tulsa with no interference from KOCD. In fact, of two radios in what my mother calls my bedroom (though I've never lived in her present house, I guess it's appropriate since I always had more radios than anyone else in my bedroom growing up!), one gets KOCD perfectly while the other gets 103.9 Pawhuska/Bartlesville instead.

There is a ridge between the 103.7 tower and OKC that the signal can't get over very good at their height. If they could put some miricle-grow on the tower out there and get it up to 2000 feet then I believe 103.7 would start working into OKC, at least on radios that had enough selectivity to get them over Pow'a.

To follow up on this post, I finally took time to listen to KOCD. It is a very mellow station licenced for Okemah. Not bad if you are in need of relaxation. I listened a few times in 2010-11. Basia, Dave Koz, Sade, and Alicia Keys are core artists. Sweet dreams, friends.

That was way back in the day then. The station was silent for most of 2011, I think. Now it's Christian as part of the K-Love network with calls KYLK.
