KODA 99.1 is still playing Christmas Music ...

While other stations stop playing it after Christmas Day. Well, I'm guessing people are so very tired of it because it's over until Next Thanksgiving. And I was wondering if there are other radio stations besides SUNNY that are still playing it today. Can't wait for that Soft & Easy music to come back on SUNNY real soon... Happy Holidays.

It makes sense for a radio station to continue playing Christmas music, because Christmas Day is only the "first day of Christmas."

For millions of people the Christmas Season goes through January 6th, the "12th day of Christmas."

But I don't expect any radio station to keep the Christmas music going that long. I think KODA will ease back into its format as the week goes on.

Back when I worked at one of the first all Christmas stations in the mid 90's, we did every other song as a Christmas song from the 26th - 31st. Reaction was about 50/50 between love and hate judging by the phone calls, but it was what the owner wanted to listen to so that's what we did. (You know, back when the guy in the corner office owned the place.)

I also have vague memories of working down the hall from the guy who owned the station. What a novel concept. Whatever happened to that business model?

It's past time for that model to be restored. Perhaps the FCC will revoke the conglomerates hold on media and restore it to local broadcasters.

Nah, too much nog.

Nah, they are arguing about printing money right now. Stonewalling and caving in as well.

Sad to say, but we will have to wait until Clear Channel requests a bailout for this to happen or the talks of something like this. Record it if you got 'em.

There were other stations (not in the Houston area) that were doing this as well. They were mixing in the Christmas music and gradually increased the ratio of regular playlist to holiday music. They went through 1/1/12 this way.
