KODA Changes

After 17 years, Zoe Bonet exits KODA, evenings 7-12a love songs. Sources say Delilah takes over September 1.

I'm actually surprised that Zoe lasted this long, without them bumping her for Delilah. I'll miss Zoe, she did a good job with the music and she had a nice voice. Good luck to her in the future. Just another reason not to listen to "Sunny" anymore.

I personaly can not stand Delilah! To much stupid talk! I was hoping the day would never come that Sunny would have her on but i guess it is!

Zoe is a sweet lady! When you listen to Zoe your listening to a real lady! I met her once and had a great conversation with her. Best of luck.

Wow & What A Shocker!I predicted that the Delilah Show will be on KODA sometime this year, back in January..I assume that KODA will air the satellite version of the program. Will KODA air it seven nights a week?I still think that Detroit and San Diego(one way or another)will carry the program again.

This is not a shock to me. What took CC so long to get one of their own programs on the air here in Houston?

Its only a matter of time before Jim Rome is on KBME.

Zoe's a class act and will be a welcome addition wherever she lands. I'm honestly surprised that she's held out this long, too. This leaves only one CC evening music jock in a fulltime position. All bow to the almighty nickel.

Rome, I believe, just signed a long-term deal to stay at KILT. I think David Barron at the Chronicle had it in one of his columns. If I remember right, Rome cited he had great responses from Houston, and he didn't want to mess with the success of the show. He's actually going to be in town on August 21st, doing his show from the KILT studios.

I think it's only a matter of time, until KBME is no longer sports. I know they keep trying to make headway with it, but in the end, I just can't see it doing any better, especially after 1560 hits the airwaves.

I think Zoe might be going to KHJZ if KODA plans to add Delilah to their line-up. Zoe has the voice of the night, but I would like to wish her the best of luck wherever life takes her. I'll miss her.

Zoe would be wonderful addition on any station night or day. In order for the Wave to hire her full time is to fire somebody. I don't see them doing that, however, nothing would surprise me.

As many here know, these places can promise you the moon and pull the rug out from underneath you when you least expect it.

You can be sitting in a air check meeting, hearing the PD tell you how good you are and how great you are doing. Then, a few weeks later you are out, for some lame reason.

The stories I could tell!

Ditto

Couldn't agree more Chuck. I've had the experience of a new owner and manager taking over a station where I worked, telling me on their first day how much they liked me and my work, and then letting me go several months later. And they did it in December. They laid off a married guy with two small kids two weeks before Christmas. Nice folks.

A few years ago my wife and I went to a station Christmas party, where the GM stood up in front of everyone talking about all the employees being one big happy family. The very next day, a couple of long time, faithful, hard working broadcast professionals were "laid off."
They didn't see it coming. Christmas was only a week away.

aka, DULL-ilah...

I met Zoe on a couple of occasions and she's a very sweet girl. Very talented at what she does too. She'll be missed. My wife grew up with "Love Songs" and if anyone knows me, you know I can't go to bed without my Celine Dion "Power of Love". Take care Zoe!

Hear Hear.

Zoe Bonet was sheer class. The best Houston radio had to offer more often than not.

I wished to celebrate a milestone anniversary for me and my wife one time and Zoe was all to happy to help with that. Lord knows she must have gotten a hundred requests a night and she made me feel as though I was the only one through the course of three phone calls in one envening and one letter sent days in advance.

We have it on an old cassette tape and when we run across a cassette player--we don't own one but our relations do--we pop it in and reminisce.

She was the best at what she did. She will not be forgotten.
