The FCC has cancelled the license of KOER-LP 101.5 in Cypress as of March 6. The station had been off the air for almost two years.
Excerpt from FCC letter to KOER:
“This letter is to inform you that the license of LPFM Station KOER-LP, Cypress, Texas (Station), licensed to Rhema Gospel Radio (Licensee) has expired pursuant to section 312(g) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended and is cancelled.
On September 12, 2024, we sent Licensee a letter stating that our records indicated that the Station had been off the air or operating with unauthorized facilities since at least May 18, 2023. Licensee was given 45 days from the date of the letter to provide evidence that the station returned to the air with authorized facilities at some time between May 18, 2023, and 12:01 a.m., May 19, 2024. The letter specified that, if Licensee failed to provide such evidence within 45 days from the date of the letter, we would modify the Commission’s public and internal databases to indicate that the broadcast license for the Station had expired, would cancel the Station’s license, and would delete the Station’s call sign. To date, we have received no response.
Accordingly, the Commission's public and internal databases HAVE BEEN MODIFIED to indicate that the broadcast license for the referenced station is EXPIRED, that the station's license is CANCELLED as a matter of law, and that the station's call sign is DELETED.”
In a related note, Houston Christian Broadcasters has filed an application to open up the coverage area of K268CW 101.5 to the NW now that KOER is gone:
