Koffee FM vs. Ocean 104.7

I had a chance to listen to Koffee FM over the weekend when I was down the cape. I tried to make a good comparison with Ocean 104.7. It seemed to me like Koffee was more AC-like, but I’m not sure. It’s a relatively new station and doesn’t have a very strong signal, while Ocean 104.7 has been around for years. However, it seems like Ocean is also heavy on local news, sort of like full service, but not sure if it actually is. Which of these 2 stations is more AC-like?

I was just down the Cape myself. Ocean 104.7 reminds me of what Cool 102 used to be like--a gold-based rock AC, while Koffee is definitely an older leaning soft AC.

I stayed in Eastham, 2 weeks ago. I liked Koffee 98.7, WGTX 102.3 and WFRQ 93.5.

It had been WOCN-FM Ocean 104 (103.9) from 1994 on. 103.9 flipped to country in late '08.

Wiki:"Upon the acquisition of Charles River Broadcasting's Cape Cod assets, it was announced that the popular "Ocean 104" would relocate to the stronger Class B signal of 104.7 MHz, swapping frequencies with WKPE-FM. The swap occurred on April 17, 2007."

WQRC was not always Hot AC. They used to be mainstream AC just like WCOD used to be in the 90s. Before that, I’m pretty sure WQRC was considered to be “dentist office” music. They played artists lik Enya, and almost all instrumental. And WOCN played standards.

I remember when Frank Sinatra and Company seemed to rule the airwaves on Ocean 104. Was my grandmother's favorite station when she was alive.

So the Cape has nothing targeting younger listeners until the Rose came in 2003-ish? Not surprising, considering it’s reputation as a retiree city.
