KOLE off the air

KOLE in Port Arthur has been silent now for several days. It appears that Birach broadcasting has finally pulled the plug on the station, which had been running classical music on autopilot now for several months, with no commercials. The station never returned to its previous format of talk programs after having to move their studio from Sawyer street in Beaumont after the purchase by Birach.

Stan, after KOLE left Sawyer Street, where did they move the studios? Are there any studios? Or was he playing a classical Ipod from the Port Arthur transmitter site?

Also, since I no longer live in the Triangle, I'm curious how strong was KOLE's daytime signal in Beaumont when it was on the air?

Thanks,
dx7

I read a newspaper article indicating they were moving somewhere on College street in Beaumont, but as they haven't had a much of presence back on the air, I'm not sure where it is. It sounds like they were using a PC based service (like OTSDJ) or some other device to spool up Mozart's greatest hits.

Since KOLE went to the Kahn technology their daytime signal in Beaumont was quite good. Night time was another matter entirely, and it wasn't good.

I go off to California for a couple of weeks, and KOLE is back on the air playing Mozart's greatest hits format again.

I just tuned in to KOLE 1340 this morning and I have to say that it sounds better now than it has in years...I didn't even hear the low hum that's been on the station forever. What ever they did, they need to keep it as is...but we'll see how long this lasts.

Blew thru PA not too long ago and noticed the signal there wasn't too bad, are they still x-
mitting from the old facility off of Memorial Blvd?? Or did that move, too....KOLE was once the high and mighty full-service station and now it's fell all the way down to computerized music sans any real advertising.......as for KRCM it makes one think of how it has fallen down from their KJET, KTLK, KIEZ, and early KRCM days of 70's music.....it's pairing with KOLE for Fox News at least beats nothing.

and the new KOLE is 'Divine Touch' radio - gospel music apparently. They now have ads on saying they want to hire people for on air talent. Interesting.
