KOLE Port-Arthur-Beaumont

Can anyone from Southeast Texas provide some info on what KOLE 1340-AM is programming these days?

The new Arbitron ratings for the Triangle were released today and shows KOLE as having a "Classical" music format and its best 12+ rating I've seen in a while -- 2.7 -- not bad for an AM in an area where KLVI is pretty much the only AM-game in town.

KOLE was playing classical for awhile, but I believe it is now a Gospel station. Hard to catch 1340 in Houston. 2.7? Really? Not sure how that's possible, but stranger things have happened.

There are so many things wrong with the ratings that I don't have time to address. KOLE was sold to Birach awhile ago, and is playing gospel music most of the time. KSET is second to KLVI in AM listeners, and KZZB isn't even on the air so I'm not sure how it even has a rating.

I'll try this again since I don't know what happened to my first reply. The ratings seem wrong on several levels. Birach bought KOLE at least a year ago, and it has been playing gospel music. I estimate that KSET is second to KLVI in the ratings. KZZB has no rating as it has been off the air for awhile now. I find it notable that KKMY's ratings are dropping - can we expect CC to make a change here? Maybe to KLVI-FM?

One more observation regarding the ratings from the Triangle - KCOL-FM is CC's top rated station, yet it continues to have persistent poor audio quality. The warbling in the audio is pronounced, almost like listening to sounds through a fan. Would it really cost CC that much to have an engineer for the Golden Triangle clusterf***?
