KOMO anchor Eric Johnson announces retirement

It's surprising that there aren't more comments on here about a longtime Seattle news person. Is Preston Phillips the heir apparent to Eric's role?

Out of everyone on their on air team, I would venture to say yes Preston succeeds Eric as 5 & 6 pm co-anchor and perhaps giving up the 3:30pm chair to someone else? Or perhaps Molly will solo anchor the 3:30pm, similar to what Mary does for the 4 pm show.
 
KOMO has done a very good job at keeping a stable cast of anchors and reporters over the years. Despite being newer to KOMO, they've given the audience time to get used to Preston Phillips (which I always think is a good thing). KING has been much more of a revolving door.

May you have an amazing retirement. Thanks for all of those Little Heroes segments. Loved seeing the kids highlighted for their perseverance and integrity in youth sports. (In fact, many years ago there was a 2nd or 3rd grade little league baseball player highlighted who went to the same school I went to!)
