KOMO desperation

Has anyone else heard the promo KOMO is running in their Mariner broadcasts, mocking KIRO's midday talk show with Alan Prell? If the guy is considered so lame, why would KOMO even acknowledge him? Could it be that their midday numbers are even worse?

When you have nothing to promote that is the kind of stuff you resort to. You would think with the numbers that they have they would try to move listeners into other dayparts. Instead they make themselves look cheap and sleazy which is what they are.

Maybe someday if the Ron Bailie school of broadcasting dropouts who run that place ever spend time to make their staff better and win an award or two they'll actually have something to do a promo about. Until then their just a gang of KIRO wannabees without 401k plans.

KOMO makes a good point about Alan Prell. Prell is the most putrid embarassment of a talk show host in the entire history of Seattle radio.

This from the same team that hired then fired then re-hired then re-fired Ernie Brown.

The same team that put Joy Brown on the air then took her off then put her back on then took her off again.

The same team that put LAST NIGHTS Art Bell show in afternoon drive.

The same team that paid a small fortune to steal away Dr. Laura from Entercom after she had already run out of gas.

The same team that lured Rick Miller from Spokane and then fired him for doing what he does.

The same team that LOST Rush Limbaugh because they were asleep at the switch.

The same team that hired Rusty Humphries.

The same team that told Carlson and Wilbur to look for work because they were switching KVI to Air America (one week before Carlson recorded his best book ever).

The same team that forces the news staff to do the newswheel streaming on the web during Mariner games so 4 people can listen. (3 who work for Fisher.)

The same team that hired retired re-treads like Yeend and Weisbaum.

The same team that is overpaying $12,000,000.00 a year for baseball and drowning the company in red ink.

RD & DK. Ruined Dollars and Dollar Killer. Just look at their financials.

Why do so many people post about KIRO on this board but hardly ever post about KOMO? Because no one gives a s+++ about KOMO unless the Mariners are on.

This is the truest, most accurate, and devastatingly funny post I've read in a long time.

The trufe hurts!

It'd be more accurate to call them KIRO Xers instead of wannabes. Most of them worked at KIRO at some point or another.

Both stations in town suck for different reasons. KOMO's news wheel is a freakin headache to listen to and the "talent" is robotic and dull. KIRO's wheel rolls along better, but the anchors in the morning are pompus and lifeless. Their talk hosts, with the exception of Dave, are all insignificant.

KOMO and KIRO managers are equal though....equally clueless.

> KIRO is still one of the top billing stations in Seattle.

Great post (the previous one) Equalinercard. Everything you said is true. I was there during some of that. I've heard the ex-KIRO people who are now at KOMO are so hell-bent on beating KIRO they'll do anything. If it were me, I'd focus on what makes KOMO better on the air and not even acknowledge the competition in promos.
Edited by easthill on 08/12/05 11:28 AM.
