KOMO IS LOOKING FOR A ND-WHAT'S THE SITUATION THERE?

I'm posting this from across the country and admit my knowledge of the Seattle market is limited at best.

KOMO AM 1000 is advertising for a news director on All Access. Can I have your basic take on the situation? Here's what little I know: they're owned by Fisher, ranked 10th 12 plus (against KIRO ranked 4th), have the Mariners. They share a web site with Channel 4.

Is KOMO all news all the time EXCEPT when they run the Mariners or do they have talk at night? Do they have ABC news---are they closely associated with Channel 4 as far as using their resources a lot and cross promoting them? Strengths, weaknesses, getting better, worse? Is Fisher a good company? Do their news people also do news for their sister station, KVI? What happened to the last ND?
Is that a revolving door?

I did a search of past messages on this board and got a little feel but would like more info. Any thoughts would be most welcome.

All news all time except for baseball games and also from 10-noon weekdays for political talk, and an hour long high school sports show on saturdays, and an hour long gardening show on saturdays.

Yes and yes.

Are you interested in the job? If so, is there a way I can contact you privately and I'd be happy to bring you up-to-speed and answer questions. Am pretty familiar with the situation there; and would love to see people coming in who are as classy and good for the newsroom as the ones who are leaving this next month.

You said as "the ones who are leaving" who else is leaving besides the current ND?

Yes...both people got very good upward opportunities...coincidentally at the same time. Sorry to shoot down any conspiracy theories!!! No massive house cleaning at the technology palace!

.....And who else is leaving?

The two people leaving are: News Director Stan Orchard, who got a Web job with the Pacific Science Center; and Assistant News Director Darren Reynolds, who is going to work for ABC in New York.

The situation is that they're looking for a news director...what's unclear?

Isn't it fair for someone to ask about a situation? God knows there are enough toilets that any of us COULD step into and doing a little homework ... especially from across the country ... strikes me as a resourceful thing to do!?

Is there ANY topic that people post here that doesn't piss you off!!!??

Has a point and smart move. I wish I checked out places before I applied!
